This is basically about the history of the RE Depot at Kings Newton
during the Second World War. It also contains personal recollections and anecdotes of various Melbourne born “sappers” who were based there.
There are some excellent pictures of Melbourne Station, various railway structures at Kings Newton and Weston-on-Trent, and the stations at Tongue, Worthington and Ashby. (This description was provided by John Baddiley, one-time Melbourne resident).
